A Brave New World

Richard Wagner’s Christopher Columbus Overture will begin this special program. Next, OSO cellist Kristin Wardell will take the soloist’s seat for William Perry’s Jamestown Concerto, a commemoration with cinematic flair! Finally, no concert about the New World would be complete without Antonin Dvorak’s expansive Symphony No. 9: From the New World!

Pops! Goes the Holidays

December 14th, 2013 at 7:30 PM and December 15th, 2013 at 3:00 PM

This annual pops concert has become known for great music and even greater laughs (sock puppets!?).  Hear the music of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker, Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, and everything in between. Come find out why this is Ocala’s favorite Holiday event!

Heroes: Bond and Beyond

March 1st, 2014 at 7:30 PM and March 2nd, 2014 at 3:00 PM

Memorable music from the James Bond franchise will start off our concert featuring the refrains of Goldfinger and Live and Let Die! The winners of our 23rd annual Young Artist Competition will dazzle our audience with their great skill and talent. Lastly, our Maestro’s favorite hero, the prankster Till Eulenspiegel will ring through the hall in an overwhelmingly fun finale!

Pops! Goes America

April 5th, 2014 at 7:30 PM and April 6th, 2014 at 3:00 PM

The OSO will bring its 37th concert season to a rousing conclusion with this Boston Pops style salute to America’s popular music! Jazz, rock ‘n roll, blues, musicals, movies and more! There’s no telling what our Maestro will pull out of the bag for this special concert — Don’t miss this fun celebration of all things USA and OSO!

Those Endearing Edwardians

Pianist Duncan MacMillan with the OSO’s own Virginia and Lyle Lamboley, present a concert of English music of the early 20th century including delightfully entertaining classics of the “Palm Court” genre and arrangements penned by Mr. Macmillan especially for this event. Exciting, beautiful, and yes, endearing!

Fiery Classical Salsa

Join your favorite OSO intern, Natasha Herrera, and friends for a classical exploration of driving Latin music. This inspired group of talented musicians featuring two percussionists, piano, flute, and bass will keep you warm and have you dancing all winter long!

Father and Son

January 12th, 2014 at 3:00 PM

Arnold Irchai, OSO principal bassoonist, will take us east on an exploration of Russion and Soviet culture through the music making of father and son. Pianist, Mark Irchai, will join his father on stage for this special performance that will include piano and bassoon solos in addition to collaborative works for both!

A Principal Finale

March 16th, 2014 at 3:00 PM

Four of the OSO’s principal players, Kristen Stoner  (flute), Kristin Naigus (oboe/English horn), Ed Klein (cello), and Tasha Robinson (harp), perform together for an epic and fun finale to our SoundArt season!

Red, White, and OSO Blue: A Salute to Our Troops

July 4th, 2013 at 5:00 PM  – Circle Square Cultural Center at On Top of the World

We will have you marching to the beat of Sousa, singing from sea to shining sea, and saluting the brave men and women who protect our country. In addition to this special concert, the entire day at On Top of the World will be filled with food, drinks, dancing, patriotic displays, and conclude with Marion County’s biggest, longest, and most spectacular fireworks display!

Handel’s Messiah

Through the power of music, Handel tells the story of the birth, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and ends with the redemption of all mankind. Come together with your friends and family to experience this magnificent Ocala tradition!

Symphony Under the Lights
